A pusher arrangement for use in crushing and pushing refuse into the main rubbish tank of a transport vehicle, Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises a cylindrical roller 30, whose external surface 31 is of very thick plate steel mounted on stub axles 33 rigidly joined to side walls 16 of the vehicle, its axis being indicated by broken line 32. An axle 38, with its axis indicated by broken line 39, is mounted eccentrically with respect to the axis 32 and carries rings 41 to which arms 42 of rectangular crosssection and considerable thickness are welded. The arms 42 extend through slots in the roller surface 31 so that, as the roller 30 is rotated the arms 42 slide in and out, Fig. 4 (not shown). Rubbish is fed under the roller 30, where it is crushed against the floor, into the main rubbish tank. The roller assembly may rise as a unit against springs to allow a large body of waste it cannot crush to pass underneath it.</p> |
