The method involves providing a continuous current converter (23) that is controlled to apply a respective preset voltage signal and a current signal (Isc) to an electrochemical storage source (22) e.g. lithium-ion battery. A variation resulting from the application of the preset voltage signal is measured. A value representative of internal current resistance (R r), internal current impedance and/or internal current electric capacity of the source is determined. A parameter representing degree of ageing of the selected source is determined according to the determined value. An independent claim is also included for a module for determining ageing state of an electrochemical storage system in a vehicle.
