PURPOSE: To simplify the control in a curved surface grinding forming method by numerical control. CONSTITUTION: The grinding surface participating in grinding in a grindstone cross-sectional shape passing through the rotary shaft is formed in a circular arc shape by using a rotary grindstone 1, and is controlled so as to maintain only a contact state of the circular arc-shaped grinding surface and the target profile surface while maintaining a distance (r) between curvature center 3 of the circular arc and a target profile equal to a radius of curvature of the circular arc of the grinding surface. This contact state is maintained so that a normal in a contact point with the grinding surface of the target profile exists in a central angle of the circular arc of the grinding surface, and that a difference between an inclinationψof this normal and an inclinationθof a bisector of the central angle of the circular arc falls within a constant range. The constant range is half of the central angle of the circular arc. A grinding point C on the grinding surface moves in a circular arc plane. The target profile can be ground and formed without controlling a posture of the grindstone one by one, and local abrasion of the grinding surface can also be prevented.
