<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of image deterioration in an image display apparatus having a liquid crystal lens provided in an observer side of a liquid crystal display panel. <P>SOLUTION: In an image display apparatus DP having a liquid crystal display panel PNL including a plurality of pixels, and a liquid crystal lens LZ arranged in an observer side of the liquid crystal display panel PNL, the liquid crystal lens LZ has a first substrate B1, a second substrate B2 facing the first substrate B1, a liquid crystal layer LC sandwiched between the first substrate B1 and the second substrate B2, and a plurality of electrodes which are formed on at least one substrate of the first substrate B1 and the second substrate B2 and extend in a first direction, and has an alignment film formed in the liquid crystal layer LC side of the one substrate; the liquid crystal display panel PNL has a polarizing plate PL2 having a transmission axis in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction provided in a side at which the liquid crystal lens LZ is arranged; and an alignment direction of the alignment film is a second direction different from the direction perpendicular to the first direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
