<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device including a cleaning member that realizes excellent quality for cleaning a discharge wire irrespective of the cleaning member being newly installed or being used over time, has excellent capability for cleaning wire, and has excellent durability. <P>SOLUTION: When a cleaning unit 225 is moved by a feed screw mechanism, and an arm part 220b is pressed by an inner face of a side plate 201b of a shield case, the cleaning unit 225 rotates to cause a right cleaning member 222a and a left cleaning member 222b that are fixed to the cleaning unit 225 to be in pressure-contact with a discharge wire 202.
