<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine reduction in power consumption with shortening in processing time in a cooperation type image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: When a user logs in an MFP (Multi-Function Printer)-A (201), work flow information related with the user is referred to. If a hot folder of another MFP is used in the work flow, work content notification indicating the work content of the hot folder is requested from the MFP (202). On the basis of the work content notification, reset to a normal mode for a power source to the processing part of hardware used in the hot folder is requested (204).
