A method includes searching 304 a modular interactive document, such as an interactive web document (IWD) or a form, to identify and validate completed digital signatures, generating 306 a signature information table that associates nodes of the data instance with signature information including an indicator of a digital signature status associated with each of the nodes, retrieving 308 a page of the modular interactive document, retrieving 310 data associated with the page and identifying nodes of data associated with user interface elements of the page, retrieving 312 the digital signature status associated with the identified nodes of data associated with the user interface elements of the page from the signature information table, and presenting 314 the page of the modular interactive document to the user on a display, the presented page including data corresponding to the identified nodes and an indication of the digital signature status associated with the data corresponding to the identified nodes. Thus, the invention provides a signature locking model for a web page of an IWD even though one or more digital signatures may be not contained by the data instances to which user interface elements of the page are bound or mapped. |
