The invention relates to a method for adjusting the speed range of an electric motor, comprising the following steps: - carrying out a number of measurements of a measurement variable, which is indicative of an electromotive force of the electric motor, within a predefined period of time; - determining the number (Zsum) of measurements carried out within the predefined period of time; and - adjusting a maximum allowable rotational speed (Nmax) of the electric motor as a function of the determined amount (Zsum) of measurements.
