<p>An operating system for a mechanical load such as a lift or elevator comprises a load controller, an electrical drive incorporating storage means and a drive mechanism to provide power to drive the load. Data comprising a profile of the operating system and the load can be downloaded to the drive controller from the storage means to the load controller, to enable the load controller to operate the load. The electrical drive can include an electric machine such as a rotary motor and the storage means can be included in an encoder of the electrical drive. The stored data can comprise all of the information required by the controller for running the operating system to drive the load, including set-up data; motor rated speed, rated current, and nominal power; load size and target speed; gear ratio sheave mounting angle encoder commutation offset and speed loop gain. The data can be stored as a data file comprising a header having an identifier identifying a parameter object, which can include a parameter header defining a function of the parameter and a parameter value. The data can be downloaded to the load controller upon assembly of the drive, and updated via the storage means when an operating parameter or component of the drive system is changed.</p> |
