METHOD OF PREPARING CONJUGATED LINOLEIC ACID FROM A BIODIESEL BYPRODUCT AND FEED COMPOSITION COMPRISING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing conjugated linoleic acid from a biodiesel byproduct and a feed composition comprising the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing conjugated linoleic acid from a biodiesel byproduct comprising the steps of: mixing a biodiesel byproduct with a polyhydric alcohol, and then adding an alkali catalyst to the mixture for isomerization; conducting acid treatment of the resultant; and purifying the resultant; and a feed composition comprising thus prepared linoleic acid as an active ingredient. The method of manufacturing the conjugated linoleic acid according to the present invention is environment-friendly because it uses a biodiesel byproduct, i.e., recycling of a natural resource. Further, the feed composition has advantages because it can improve the growth and meat quality of pigs, chickens, fish, etc.
