The invention comprises 2-(benzothiazolyl-2-azo)-1,3-diketone dyes free from strongly ionized water-solubilizing substituents and having the oxo groups of the 1,3-diketone in an open chain structure. Such dyes may be represented by the formula <FORM:1044823/C4-C5/1> wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different aromatic, arylaliphatic or aliphatic radicals attached to the oxo groups by a carbon to carbon bond and R1 and R2 and the benzene ring A may be substituted but are free from strongly ionized substituents conferring solubility in water, e.g. sulphonic acid groups. The dyes are particularly suitable for dyeing normally solid polymers of a -olefins having 2 to 4 carbon atoms and containing a Werner-complex forming metal. Examples are furnished. Among the specific products are 2-(benzothiazoyl-2-azo)-1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione and 3 - (6 - ethoxybenzothiazolyl - 2 - azo)-1,1,1 - trifluoro - 4 - (2 - thienyl) - 2,4 - butanedione.
