<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leak from sides, by providing a looped standing gathers that are highly effective in obstructing flow and easy to fit on skin. <P>SOLUTION: In a standing gather BS, the hollow of a cross-section is defined by inside gather face 20 which is located at the side of the center of a sanitary napkin 1 in the widthwise direction thereof; upper gather faces 21 each of which is located at the side where skin contacts it; and outside gather faces 22 each of which is located at the outside of the sanitary napkin 1 in the widthwise direction thereof. At each corner part between the corresponding inside gather face 20 and upper gather face 21, which corner part is located in front of or behind an area corresponding to at least a blood discharge part H, a projection 24, which projects on the outside of the standing gather BS, is formed by joining the inner faces of the standing gather BS. Also, elastically stretchable members 26 are disposed along the lengthwise direction of the sanitary napkin 1, at least at each corner between the corresponding ones of the upper gather faces 21 and outside gather face 22, at the top of each projection 24, and at the intermediate part of each inside gather face 20.
