<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve compression by appropriate gradation compression characteristics corresponding to the change of image in moving image while suppressing increase in load on the system, when performing image composition for expanding dynamic range. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus for generating an image having an expanded dynamic range by synthesizing two images having different exposure amounts generates a composite image having an expanded dynamic range by synthesizing images of two frames to be synthesized, output from an imaging section that outputs images captured with two kinds of different exposure amount continuously. The imaging apparatus generates a gradation compression characteristics based on the image of the first frame out of two frames and the low resolution image thereof, and compresses the gradation of the composite image. The imaging apparatus estimates the portion of resulting movement from the images of two frames, and exchanges the exposure amounts of the images of first frame and second frame to be synthesized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
