<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new field emission lamp with better efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection type field emission lamp comprises an electrode emission source formed in a vacuum space, a gate electrode and a phosphor layer. The electron emission source is formed on a surface of a translucent member, and the gate electrode is formed so as to cover the electrode emission source at an interval. The phosphor layer is formed on a surface of a conductive member opposed to the gate electrode. The electrode emission source forms an electric field form and to the gate electrode to emit electron beam. The phosphor layer forms an electric field from and to the gate electrode, so that the electron beam collides to excite and emit light. The electron emission source is arranged to form a space for passing the emitted light beam to the surface of the translucent member.
