<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon composite material for a lithium ion secondary negative electrode material capable of providing a lithium ion secondary battery which has further improved charge/discharge capacity density and charge/discharge cycle characteristics, and to provide a negative electrode mixture for the lithium ion secondary battery, a negative electrode for the lithium ion secondary battery, and the lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: A composition before heat treatment, which is used for forming a carbon composite material for a lithium ion secondary negative electrode material, contains silica particles and a phenolic resin.
