PURPOSE: A system and a method thereof for scanning wireless channels are provided to control a wireless device to receive a new traffic stream from a PBSS(Personal Basic Service Set) control point while implementing active or passive scanning seamlessly to adjacent PBSSs. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter(214) communicates with a processor(216). A receiver(212) communicates with the processor. The processor transmits whether to be in a sleep mode and a sleep mode schedule, which is indicating the sleep period of a first wireless device, to a second wireless device with the transmitter. The processor utilizes the receiver to scan at least one wireless channel for detecting a third wireless device to communicate with the first wireless device in the sleep period.
