<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet having a protective layer, which transfer sheet has a heat-resistant lubricating layer on one side of a base material and a thermal transfer protective layer on the other side of the base material, the thermal transfer sheet being able to prevent decrease in the gloss of printed matter during high speed printing. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet having the protective layer, which transfer sheet has the heat-resistant lubricating layer on the one side of the base material and the thermal transfer ink layers of three respective colors and the protective layer formed in a longitudinal direction thereof in order. The protective layer has the thermal transfer protective layer in which a release layer, a particle layer, and an adhesive layer are laid one upon another in order from the base material side.
