<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting device capable of stabilizing the paste transcription quality by performing management of the residual amount of paste correctly in a coating film formation stage, and to provide a paste transcription method in the electronic component mounting device. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic component mounting device comprises paste detection residual amount means for determining as to whether or not supply of the flux 25 to a coating formation stage 24 is required, by detecting a protrusion 25a of the flux 25 by means of a photosensor 14 disposed between a squeegee 28a for forming a coating of flux 25 on the coating formation surface 24a, and a scraper 29a which scrapes the flux 25 on the coating formation surface 24a while directing the detection direction toward the coating formation surface 24a.
