1,075,526. Stoppers. J. J. AUGROS. Feb. 28, 1966 [March 1, 1965], No. 8665/66. Heading B8T. To prevent accidental opening of an internally threaded Skirted stopper (2), Fig. 1 (not shown), a ring (1) having external threads on to which the stopper is screwed is freely journalled about the neck of the flask &c. which the stopper closes. A lower flange (5) of the rotatable ring (1) extends below and beyond the skirt (7) of the stopper. When the flask &c. is to be opened, the lower flange (5) of the rotatable ring (1) is held to prevent its rotating, and the stopper (2) is unscrewed. If the flange (5) is not held, the ring (1) and stopper (2) rotate together. The ring (1), which is preferably of plastics, has a shoulder (3) which is snapped over a ridge (4) around the mouth of the flask &c. As a modification, the ring-shaped shoulder (3) on the ring (1) may be replaced by a number of projections. The stopper (2) has an inner ring- shaped flange (11) which seats against the inside of the flask &c. neck. In a modification, the ring (1), Fig. 2 (also not shown), is snapped behind a ring-shaped ridge (12) around the neck of and below the usual stopper threads on the neck of a bottle. |
