<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating an exterior appearance of a metal plate, in which a finished condition of a polished part and a repolished part can be quantitatively evaluated by using a simple technique. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for evaluating an exterior appearance of a metal plate, a digital image 10 of a surface of a metal plate 1 is obtained using a scanner 4, and the exterior appearance of a polished part 2 and a repolished part 3 is determined to be accepted or rejected on the basis of a waveform pattern of an Ac value which is acquired by performing gray scale conversion on a RGB value of each pixel contained in a partial image 11 of the digital image 10. By using the waveform pattern, the exterior appearance of the polished part 2 and the repolished part 3 can be easily and quantitatively determined. Further in the method, screening is carried out on the basis of the waveform pattern, by using, as a determination object, the digital image 10 in which a polishing direction of the polished part 2 and the repolished part 3 coincides with a scanning direction of the scanner 4. According to this preprocessing, an S/N ratio of the waveform pattern applied in an exterior appearance determining process is enhanced, and thus determination accuracy is enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
