The system has working areas (14) for work stations (12) with tools for execution of a working step. A transportation system transports goods in a preset path (18) between the work stations and comprise driverless transport vehicles (16). The work stations and the tools are provided in quantity-dependant development stages (10). The work stations and the tools are provided in complete development stages. Robots i.e. mobile lightweight construction robots, are inserted at the work stations. The work stations are formed as identical modules. An independent claim is also included for a method for conceptual design of a production system.
