<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a road surface friction coefficient by using that an inclination of cornering force to a tire slip angle becomes a function of the road surface friction coefficient. <P>SOLUTION: A road surface friction coefficient estimating device includes a road surface friction coefficient estimation part 28 that calculates an angle of sideslip β and cornering force CF of a tire, and estimates the friction coefficient of the road surface based on a ratio ΔCF/Δβ of the calculated cornering force CF to the angle of the sideslip β of the tire. The road surface friction coefficient estimation part 28 runs in a plurality of road surfaces with different road surface friction coefficient μ, detects the angle of sideslip β and the cornering force CF of the tire, makes the relation between them in the numerical value, or expressions, preserves them in the memory 29, and calculates the friction coefficient of the road surface by using the relation preserved in the memory 29 at the actual travel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
