<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a β-trifluoromethyl alcohol. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a β-trifluoromethyl alcohol of formula (4) includes reacting allyl alcohol with (E)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, subjecting the resultant allyl vinyl ether to rearrangement reaction to obtain an α-trifluoromethyl aldehyde of formula (3), and then reacting the aldehyde with an enol silyl ether of formula (5). In the formulas (3), (4) and (5), R<SP POS="POST">a</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">b</SP>are each H or the like; and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>are each alkyl or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
