<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality by suppressing light leakage in the vicinity of the periphery of an opening of an upper frame in a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a liquid crystal display device comprising: a second polarizing plate disposed on a surface opposite to a surface on a liquid crystal layer side of a second substrate of a liquid crystal display panel; a first polarizing plate disposed on a surface opposite to a surface on a liquid crystal layer side of a first substrate of the liquid crystal display panel; and a backlight arranged on an opposite side from the liquid crystal layer side of the first substrate, wherein the backlight has a frame-like mold frame for accommodating the liquid crystal display panel, the first substrate has a non-overlapped area where the second substrate is not overlapped, the mold frame has a sidewall at the other sides excluding the side of the non-overlapped area side of the first substrate, and at least one side of the sides other than the sides of the non-overlapped area side of the second substrate is protruded to the outside from the second substrate and adhered onto the mold frame. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
