Apparatus for applying adhesive tape to surfaces comprises a supply roll K, a fixed applying pressure roll 5 and a pivotally mounted roll 7 with a knife 6 mounted between them. During tape application the roll 7 is locked by a pawl 15 in the position shown with the knife 6 just clear of the tape T. On operation of a release lever 10 the pawl 15 is moved to allow the tension of the tape T to raise the roll 7 to allow the tape to contact the knife 6 and be severed thereby. Operation of the lever 10 also actuates a flap member 19 to clamp the tape against a guide roller 9 and prevent return movement of the tape. A recess 21 allows the flap 19 to be held back while the tape is threaded through the apparatus.</p> |
