PURPOSE: A matrix switch system adopting an N-screen and a method thereof are provided to automatically convert the resolution of a source video for a target device, thereby enhancing user friendliness. CONSTITUTION: A resolution detection unit(150) detects the resolution of a source video, the definition of a target device, or a resolution including the combination of the resolution and the definition. An N-screen conversion unit(120) converts the resolution of the source video in accordance with the definition of the target device. A user interface unit(140) connects a user interface terminal by wire, wirelessly, or a combination of wired and wireless means. A subtitle/effect insertion unit(130) performs an insertion, mixing, overlay, or a combination thereof with the source video. A switch unit(110) switches and outputs the source video to the target device.
