<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device configured to reduce the dimension in vehicle width direction and the number of components, to prevent a column from moving in a telescopic direction or a tilt direction at a secondary collision, and to have an easy-to-design impact absorbing mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A left nut presses an outside surface of a side plate 33 via a second rocking friction plate 52 and a first rocking friction plate 51 to deform the side plate 33 inwardly, and presses firmly the inside surface of the side plate 33 against a side surface of a distance bracket 13. The number of friction surfaces are increased by the first and second friction plates 51, 52, to increase frictional force. The frictional force generated on both surfaces between the outside surface of the side plate 33 and the nut firmly fastens an outer column 11 to a body attachment bracket 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
