<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an object of speeding both the stopping-down action and the opening-up action in picking up still images and of improving the accuracy, fineness and quietness in the whole range from a fully open state to a narrowly stopped-down state in stopping up or down the lens when picking up moving images. <P>SOLUTION: An image pickup apparatus capable of choosing between still image picking-up and moving picture picking-up comprises a motor, a first pinion gear fixed to the output shaft of the motor, and a gear meshing with the first pinion gear. It further has a rotational member driven by the motor, a diaphragm whose aperture size is varied by the rotation of the rotational member, and a control mechanism that varies the distance between the rotation centers of the rotational member and the first pinion gear. The control mechanism sets, when to pick up a still image, the distance between the rotation centers to a prescribed length or sets, when to pick up a moving image, the distance between the rotation centers to a length shorter than the prescribed length. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
