In the context of the method according to the invention, a setpoint power draw-off that is to be drawn from the power network (PG) is predetermined for the mill system (1). Based on this setpoint power draw-off, one or more control variables (A) of the mill system (1) are regulated such that the power drawn from the power network (PG) corresponds to the setpoint power draw-off. In a preferred variant, the method according to the invention serves to make available control power required in the power network by the mill system (1), with the result that fluctuations in energy generation occurring as a result of the increased use of regenerative energies can be compensated for. In a preferred variant, the method is used to regulate a mill system which comprises a tube mill or SAG mill or ball mill. These mills, which are mostly used for comminuting ores, have a very high energy consumption, with the result that, by correspondingly regulating the energy consumption thereof, even relatively large quantities can be made available as control power in the power network.
