METHOD FOR READING A HOLOGRAPHIC MEMORY ON A RECORD CARRIER

The carrier has a holographic memory (5) carried by the carrier, and a photonic crystal (1) arranged to filter light received from a large spectrum light source (11) to select a frequency band of large spectrum and guide the light corresponding to the selected frequency band so as to illuminate the holographic memory in a predetermined direction. The photonic crystal comprises an optical resonator for illuminating the holographic memory consistently with the spectrum corresponding to the selected frequency band. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a data carrier reading equipment comprising an optical sensor for detecting an image created by illumination of a holographic memory (2) a method for reading a holographic memory.
