PURPOSE: A charge state management method for the battery of a non-catenary low floor tram is provided to completely collect regenerative energy generated during the braking of a vehicle and to allow the collected regenerative energy to be used for the driving of the vehicle or the operation of an auxiliary load like an SIV(Static Inverter) inside the vehicle, thereby improving the energy efficiency of a non-catenary low floor tram. CONSTITUTION: The charge state of a battery is managed by being classified into five regions of a critical high region(10), a high region(20), a normal region(30), a low region(40), and a critical low region(50). The critical high region and the critical low region are use-forbidden regions considered for the life of the battery, and since when the battery is frequently charged or discharged completely, the life of the battery is badly affected, and the energy storage performance and output performance are reduced. In order to prevent poor performance, the charge state of the battery is controlled not to enter into critical regions. The high region is a usable region not affecting the life of the battery, but a region not capable of absorbing 100% of the regenerative energy generated during the braking of a vehicle. The normal region is a middle region where frequent charging and discharging to allow the charge state of the battery to maintain a target charge state do not occur, and the charge state of the battery is controlled to stay at the normal region all the time.
