PURPOSE: A heating element control device of an electric range and a control method thereof are provided to control the excess of output power over limited power while supplying power without wholly blocking the power supplied to each heating element. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(120) receives an output adjustment value for each heating element(110) from a user, gradually classifies a range of output power outputted by each heating element, and selects a level of the output power corresponding to each step. A calculating unit(130) calculates the total sum of the output power for each heating element in response to the output adjustment value. A measuring unit(150) measure a current and a voltage applied to an electric range or a current and a voltage applied to each heating element. A calculating unit calculates the actual power consumption of each heating element based on the measured current and voltage. A control unit(140) compares the actual power consumption of each heating element with a set limited power to control the output of the heating element downward or upward.
