A terminal for effectively using radio resources and a method for using radio resources are provided to use radio resources of a mobile communication network effectively by dynamically changing time during which radio resources are occupied according to the amount of data of the mobile communication network. A radio data transmitting/receiving unit(202) receives a data signal. A data download speed calculating unit(208) calculates a data download speed from the received data signal. A memory unit(204) stores the calculated data download speed and a pre-set threshold value. A comparing unit(210) compares the threshold value and the data download speed. A timer unit(206) sets a changed radio resource occupancy time value according to the comparison result of the threshold value and the data download speed. A controller(200) controls the data download speed calculating unit to calculate a data processing speed from one session of received data, controls the comparing unit to compare the threshold value with the data processing speed, and changes a currently set radio resource occupancy time. |
