DRAIN PUMP AND WASHING MACHINE HAVING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A drain pump and a washing machine having the same are provided to easily remove the air in the drain pump by forming an air outlet port at the upper side of a drain pump compartment and connecting the air outlet port to a drain hose. CONSTITUTION: A drain pump(100a) comprises: a washing water inlet compartment(111); a pump case(110) including a drain pump compartment(120) and a bubble generating compartment(130); and a pump filter(140) to be inserted into the washing water inlet compartment. A bubble generating motor(131) is disposed at a side of the pump case adjacent to the bubble generating compartment. A circulation impeller(132) is connected to the bubble generating motor. The bubble generating compartment is provided, at the upper portion thereof, with a circulation port(134) that protrudes upward to circulate the washing water to the inside of a tub. A circulation pipe(80) is connected to the circulation port. An impeller(122) to forcedly draw the washing water in the washing water inlet compartment and to discharge the drawn washing water is installed in the drain pump compartment of the pump case. The pumping motor(121) is connected to the impeller. The impeller, which is rotated by the pumping motor, draws in the washing water of the washing water inlet compartment in a shaft direction and discharges the washing water in the radial direction. An air outlet port(160) is formed while protruding upward, in order to remove from the pump case the air which is generated by collision between the impeller and the washing water and to remove the air which is introduced when the washing water is introduced into the washing water inlet compartment. One end of the drain hose(60a) is guided to the outside of a cabinet(10) by a hose guide. The other end of the drain hose is provided with a connection part(62a) configured to connect the other end of the drain hose to an outlet port(124). An air inlet port(61a) is formed while protruding at the drain hose, and the air outlet port is connected to the air inlet port through an air passage(170a). One end of the air passage is connected to the air outlet port, and the other end of the air passage is connected to the air inlet port.
