Manufacture (1) of near-net shape rare-earth permanent magnet involves introducing powders (10A-10N) obtained from magnetic material into a tool, blending (10) powders in order to form powder blend, compressing powder blend in the tool in order to obtain compressed powder, and sintering (40) the compressed powder. An independent claim is included for method for shock compression of rare-earth permanent magnet.
