The invention relates to a method and a corresponding system for evaluating the security situation in a building (100), wherein the building (100) has lounge areas having access authorization for appropriately authorized persons (IP). The current number (CP) of physically present persons (P) in at least one sub-area of the lounge areas is determined in an automated manner by means of a sensory method. In the at least one sub-area, identification codes of wireless RFID transponders (4) carried by the respective authorized persons (IP) are read out in an automated manner. The current number (CID) of detected identification codes (ID) is determined. Finally, an indicator for evaluating the current security situation in the building (100) is then output on the basis of the two numbers (CP, CID).
