<p>The system has a senor device that is provided for detecting vehicles in a surrounding environment (24) of motor vehicle (10), so as to control a right headlight (20) and left headlight (22) of vehicles. The sensor devices are arranged in lateral and rear surrounding environment of motor vehicle. The sensor device is provided to determine relative velocity between motor vehicle and detected vehicle. The right and left headlight are controlled based on determined velocity.</p>
