<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart an acoustic effect to the sound made by an acoustic piano while preserving its natural feeling. <P>SOLUTION: In a grand piano, a stroke on a string 5 by a hammer 4 is detected, and a vibration part 50 is vibrated with a driving waveform signal obtained by synthesizing a sine-wave signal of the fundamental frequency and a sine-wave signal of harmonic frequencies of the string 5. The vibration is conducted to the string 5 via a sounding board 7 and a bridge 6, and the vibration of the string 5 is thereby excited by the stroke by the hammer 4 and the driving waveform signal to impart an acoustic effect corresponding to the driving waveform signal.
