<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine which is reduced size and easily manufactured, prevents a failure in the operation of a valve even if the timing of switching between cams is delayed in the rotation of a camshaft. <P>SOLUTION: The variable valve gear for the internal combustion engine includes: a cam carrier 4 axially movable with respect to the camshaft 3; a low-speed cam 41 and a high-speed cam 42 which have common base circle parts 41A, 42A allowing the axial movement of a cam carrier 4 when being in contact with a pressed roller of a rocker arm 11, and noses 41B, 42B different in shape; plungers 5 moving the cam carrier 4 in an axial direction to switch the low-speed cam 41 and the high-speed cam 42 as to be a cam opposed to a rocker arm 11; and a guide mechanism 60 forcibly moving the cam carrier 4 to a position where either the low-speed cam 41 or the high-speed cam 42 is opposed to the pressed roller 11A when the nose parts 41B, 42B get close to the pressed roller 11A before the axial movement of the cam carrier 4 is finished. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
