This steam turbine (10) is equipped with: a turbine main body (11) having rotatably supported blades; a steam flow path (12) connected to the turbine main body and through which steam circulates; an adjustment valve (13) that adjusts the opening/closing of the steam flow path by means of linear movement; and an opening/closing drive mechanism (15) that drives the adjustment valve. The opening/closing drive mechanism is equipped with: an electric motor that rotates when electricity is supplied; a conversion mechanism that converts the rotational movement of the electric motor to the linear movement of the adjustment valve; and a brake that is operated by the regenerative energy of the electric motor. |
