MICROWAVE SENSING TYPE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MONITORING EXHAUST EMISSIONS FROM VEHICLES

PURPOSE: A microwave sensing type system for monitoring vehicle exhaust emissions and a method therefor are provided to measure and monitor the amount of pollutants including carbon in exhaust emissions, thereby remarkably reducing the exhaust emissions. CONSTITUTION: A system for monitoring vehicle exhaust emissions comprises a main exhaust pipe(14), an auxiliary exhaust pipe(18), an exhaust gas measuring device(20), and a monitoring device. The main pipe emits exhaust gas including carbon generated by a vehicle. The auxiliary exhaust pipe is branched from the main exhaust pipe for bypassing part of exhaust gas passing through the main exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas measuring device is installed at the auxiliary exhaust pipe. The exhaust gas measuring device analyzes an absorption spectrum of the microwave irradiated to the bypassed exhaust gas. The monitoring device monitors the pollutants included in the exhaust gas by receiving the measurements of the pollutants from the exhaust gas measuring device.
