<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in sheet conveyance load generated when bringing a pressing member into contact with a recording sheet, while avoiding decrease in layout flexibility caused by providing a size detection means for detecting the sheet width and preventing non-operation of a movement stop means caused by bending of the recording sheet. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet placement device comprises: a movement stop means for stopping the movement of first and second side fences 611 and 612 when a load on the first side fence or the second side fence during movement exceeds a threshold; and a pressing member 604 provided between the side fences, freely reciprocating between a position in contact with a sheet placement surface and the position away from the sheet placement surface by swinging, and pressing a recording sheet to the sheet placement surface by its own weight in a state where it is placed on the recording sheet placed on the sheet placement surface. The pressing member 604 is provided in a posture for directing a swinging shaft side toward an upstream side in a sheet conveyance direction while directing a free end side in the pressing member 604 toward a downstream side in the sheet conveyance direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
