METHOD OF RELEASABLY COUPLING A TOPSIDES TO A BARGE AND SYSTEM USED THEREFORE

The present application concerns a system and method that keeps a barge (115) with a grillage system (125) on the barge in compression with a topsides (110) supported by the grillage system during the transport, while providing a quick release system (180) between the barge and its grillage system on one side and the topsides on the other side. The quick release system provides a laterally coupling and a vertically coupling whereby the vertically coupling is releasable by actuating the quick release system. The laterally coupling releases automatically when releasing the vertically coupling.
