<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine that optimally washes laundry depending on an amount of detergent and can conduct a washing operation while highly saving energy. <P>SOLUTION: A washing step of the drum type washing machine comprises: a step (S12) of rotating a drum 1 at such a low speed that laundry does not stick to a wall surface in the drum 1; and a centrifugally washing step (S14) of rotating the drum 1 at such a high speed that the laundry is in condition to stick to the drum 1 in a wall surface direction.
