PURPOSE: A mobile robot and a control method are provided to rapidly move the mobile robot to a charge station by detecting a position of the charge station or the own position of the robot from a plurality of video information. CONSTITUTION: A mobile robot comprises an image detecting unit, a storing unit, and a control unit. The image detecting unit detects image information by filming surroundings, and the image information is stored in the storing unit. The control unit recognizes an absolute position by comparing the detected image information with the stored image information and detects a position of a charge station.
