The system for collecting rain water is intended to collect rain water of good quality and few polluting agents, this allowing the first flow (polluted water) to flow towards the sanitary installation in a predetermined period of time. This system is operated by mechanical elements and principles, which are actuated by the weight of the rain water that is collected in the collector, where this collector has a perforation for emptying the same, once the collector is empty, the cycle may be indefinitely repeated each time a rain event occurs. The system includes a container or tray installed in the roof, an opening and closing mechanism which is useful for coupling the elements and a valve for differentiating the flows and channeling them to the drain or to the storing tank.
