The distributer has mechanical, hydraulic or electric drive train for driving distribution plates, and a setting unit for setting the distributer according to different working widths, distributing materials or modes. An adjustable dosing element doses the materials into each plate. An idle rotational torque of the drive train is deducted from the total rotational torque for determination of torque produced by a fertilizer mass flow. A typical value for the idle torque at a standard distribution speed is entered into a computer, and distribution plate type is stored in the computer.
