A playback system of the type in which a spiral recorded track on a rotating disc record is scanned by a beam of energy directed from a source to a pick-up by way of the record comprises means for providing an error signal representative of deviations of the output of the pick-up from synchronization with a reference signal and beam deflecting means responsive to the error signal to shift along the track the point on the disc which is effectively scanned by the beam so as to tend to eliminate such deviations.
