1,093,727. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 24, 1965 [Nov. 24, 1964], No. 49893/65. Heading H2A. In a dynamo-electric machine direct conductor cooling passages 4, e.g. for water, are formed by resilient sealing spacers arranged between each two adjacent conductors 1 of the machine. The cooling passages may be joined, especially at their ends, by holes 7 through the conductors. The seal is made by placing the spacers (3) which have a resiliency like that of rubber (Fig. 1, not shown), between the conductors and then pressing the conductors together (Fig. 2, not shown). The spacers and conductors may be specially shaped as shown and a plurality of spacers may be provided between two adjacent conductors so as to increase the number of cooling passages. Also the conductors may be formed with grooves (6, Fig. 5, not shown), into which endless strips of spacer material are arranged between adjacent conductors. This construction may be used in a salient pole rotor of the type described in Specification 963,707. The spacers may be used in the end-windings (Fig. 6, not shown), of the machine. |
