<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image encoding method and image decoding method in which no trouble occurs even when a stream is switched in the middle of decoding. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a picture coding method for generating a coded signal corresponding to each picture by coding a plurality of image signals, wherein, a switching picture capable of switching a plurality of coded signals and a picture capable of referencing the switching picture after switching picture are only a group of pictures of the same time in the encoded signals.
